Juan Soto: Trade? or Keep?

May 26, 2022 - The thought on everyone’s mind this summer is, will Juan Soto be traded before the August 2 deadline? In my opinion the Washington Nationals would be stupid to let a once in a generation talent go before he hits his prime. In just five years the 23 year old Soto has taken Major League Baseball by storm, becoming one of the most dynamic hitters in the game today. But in 2022 Soto has been a mere average player compared to seasons past. Could this be an effect of the Nationals having the worst record in their division and third worst record in baseball? Or, is Juan Soto secretly telling the Nationals organization he wants to be traded?

So far this season, Soto is batting .236 with 8 homeruns, 14 runs batted in, .379 OBP and .435 SLG. All career lows for Soto so far in 2022 could suggest he is slowing down in Washington and looking for a competitive replacement.

There is no question that Soto is struggling this season, but this is Juan Soto we are talking about. He pisses pitchers off by grabbing his nuts after taking a ball, then will send it 500 feet over the fence just to piss them off more! Juan Soto will be fine and if the Nationals are truly invested in the future of the franchise they should trim some of the dead weight (Stephen Strasburg & Patrick Corbin) and PAY JUAN SOTO.

If the Nationals decide not to pay Juan Soto, I think they will be digging a hole too deep to get out. Remember the Chicago Cubs? It took them 108 YEARS to win a world series, don’t think it can happen again Nationals.
