Major League 4: Project Oakland

April 3, 2024 - It’s 2024 and the Oakland A’s are taking a page out of the 1980’s classic Major League. It seems that National Dickbag, owner John Fisher is recreating the movie with his own team.

Since the news of the team leaving (potentially?) Oakland for Las Vegas, some weird shit has been going on. From Possums in the stadium, to fans having sex in the stands, The Oakland Athletics have been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

The most recent being the controversy that owner John Fisher is purposely trying to lose games. On Monday April 1st, the A’s announced that starting outfielder and 2023’s MLB leader in stolen bases Esteury Ruiz had been optioned to Triple A. Ruiz started out the season batting .429 with a triple and a stolen base in 3 games. So why would the A’s send him down? Many have speculated that it was because Ruiz, among other players were seen wearing “Last Dive Bar” bracelets. Why would this matter? The Last Dive Bar is a company that sells merchandise in hopes to spread awareness that Oakland wants the A’s to stay, but Fisher clearly has other plans.

Fisher is making it well known that he is moving on from Oakland. On April 2nd a staff memo was found on the stadium floor stating that “If you see anything that says Rooted in Oakland it must be taken down immediately”. The dude is beyond done with this team and the Oakland community and it disgusts me.

For those of you who have not seen Major League, I suggest you go watch and you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Fischer has become the new Rachel Phelps. In the movie Phelps is the corrupt owner of the Cleveland Indians who tries her hardest to hire the worst players to field a team so that she can move the team to Miami. Unlike the movie, I don’t think the 1-5 A’s will be winning any pennants this year.

This is not the first time Fisher has tried to ruin the franchise. The A’s have been known to have the worst fan attendance in baseball as well as voted last in facilities and amenities by players. Fisher is trying his hardest to move the franchise as fast a possible in all the wrong ways. No team should go through what that A’s have been through. This used to be a team that was a constant threat to win the World Series and now its been drained of it all.

This story will be ongoing this season but for now, John Fisher is PUBLIC ENEMY #1 in the eyes of baseball fans.
